About Joseph Egheosa Ifada
I'm a self-improved Nigerian visual artist, who graduated from the department of Theatre and Media Arts at Ambrose Alli University in Nigeria. Everyone has one or many things he likes and is good at. For me, drawing is one of them. I’ve been drawing since childhood, and I was a very naughty kid with that as I scribbled on my mum's Bible. The fun and joy I felt at drawing pushed me to continue in my teenage years till now, and today it has become the career I pursue.
Art for me is a place of rest, innovation, and a way to interpret and present my constant contemplations to the people around me and the world at large. It is a unique medium of presenting my thoughts about everyday problems, as well as a means to preserve my preferred lenses of the solution to those problems.
As a person and an artist, I strive to reach enlightenment and bring as many along on that journey. I like to dive into subjects that bother upon self-reflection, self-awareness, and mental health issues through the lens of African culture and way of life. I'm also looking forward to exploring subjects around family, children, and bonding.
By working on those subjects, I aim to display, on one hand, the possibility and tenacity of man to overcome his deepest and hardest challenges, and on the other hand, his ability to find happiness, peace, and enlightenment as a result of his resilience, self-reflection, and growth. Every piece I work on is meant to bring my audience to a point of sober reflection, contemplation, or resolve, whilst appreciating the beauty and dexterity of my artwork on the given subject I present.
